Literally hundreds of thousands of children in Uganda wake up every morning and never hear their father's voice; they never feel the gentle caress of a caring mother. In fact, they face each day not even thinking about a hug or a kiss or a smile from a parent. No, each day for them means scrounging in a filthy bin for a morsel to eat, fighting for a spot to sleep in a dirty corner of an abandoned building...wondering again, 'what happened' and 'what's next?' Children of Uganda is working to answer the question of 'next' for these precious little ones.

More Information

For more than a decade, Children of Uganda has been serving the youth of Uganda, a country no larger than the state of Oregon which holds 2.4 million orphaned children under the age of 15. Established to nourish the minds, bodies, and spirits of the country's most vulnerable citizens, Children of Uganda works in conjunction with the local and non-local governmental organizations to provide education, support, and encouragement to those in need.

Over 600 orphaned and vulnerable children are living in safe accommodations, eating nutritious food, and attending school because of the generosity of supporters. With a strong, healthy start in life, these children have the chance to grow into adults who can support themselves and their families and be the stimulus for recovery in their troubled homeland. After decades of armed conflict and tragedy due to the AIDS pandemic, these children are the foundation of Uganda's bright future.
