A Message From Free the Slaves

Thank you for your gift to Free the Slaves through TheGive5. Your donation literally helps make the difference between slavery and freedom for people around the globe.

Through the generosity of supporters like you, Free the Slaves is freeing people from slavery, helping them to rebuild their lives, and dismantling the systems allow slavery to flourish. Together, we’re building a world without slavery. Some recent highlights of our work include:

Over 1,000 mothers marched through Port-au-Prince, Haiti to call for an end of child domestic slavery: messages of solidarity from FTS supporters were greeted with cheers.
Five north Indian communities once controlled by fear, violence and hunger have successfully eliminated debt bondage slavery and are building new lives in freedom.
We’ve completed construction on a new shelter for women and girl survivors of sexual slavery in Bihar, India, the first of its kind in this poor region rife with slavery.
FTS President Kevin Bales co-authored and published a new book about slavery in America, The Slave Next Door, which is receiving excellent reviews.
In one year 60 boys and girls were rescued from slavery in fishing along Lake Volta in Ghana, taken to a shelter to heal, and reintegrated within their communities.
In 48 communities in Nepal, villagers are meeting regularly to say ‘no’ to slavery and trafficking, and to create better futures for themselves and their children.

The founder of TheGive5, Brent Robison, will be making a number of television appearances in the upcoming weeks starting with Springfield, Missouri's CBS affiliate, KOLR 10. Tune in on Wednesday, July 1 between 5:25 and 6:30 am for Early This Morning. Hopefully we will have videos from the interview on TheGive5's YouTube and Vimeo sites soon after.
